The website

Socialholic is the website of James Barisic.  It is a collection of articles, links, slides and photos which have no particular common theme.  If you can see a link, feel free to share it!

This is not a brochure site.  While James does provide various services, this is not necessarily an example of his work.  If you’d like to know more of what James might be able to do to help your communications and public affairs, take a look at his LinkedIn profile.

This site is a discussion and all the posts are meant to be an invitation to engage.  Feel free to post comments and engage.  It’s the name of the game.

The podcasts

James is the cohost of the popular PhotoLegal podcast along with Darren Hector, Phill Price and Kate Day.  Darren is the professional photographer who is a little grumpy.   Darren specialises in wildlife photography and is actually very good – but don’t tell him I said so.  Phill is the hobby photographer with an incredible line in architectural and urban photography who broadcasts from a cave.  I really like Phill’s pictures and, when he is in a good mood, I am going to persuade him to let me use them to decorate my house without paying him.  Kate works at the Telegraph Media Group and has taken to broadcasting while lying down next to her laptop.  By contrast, Darren professes to spend lots of time lying down in bird poo.  Kate’s flat has recently appeared on a television drama and has its own Equity card.

James stands alone in the group as being the sole lawyer and the only Nikon owner – the others preferring Canon.  James is right.  The rest are wrong.  (Please ignore the fact that I am the only person there that doesn’t know what they’re doing with a camera – I’m still right, Nikons are nicer)

The Socialholic

James has worked as a researcher, political advisor, campaign advisor, rabble rouser,  media advisor and, most recently, a solicitor.  His proudest moment was being described by an opponent as ‘Charlie Whelan without the finesse’.  It is thought that this was meant to be an insult.

James has advised, written, spoken and presented on the use of integrated communications including social media by companies, individuals and charities.  Sometimes this has involved the wearing of a kilt.

James continues to give advice, rabble rouse and train clients and give a helping hand where useful.

James is on Twitter, Friendfeed, LinkedIn, FriendFace and various other sites.

James lives in Devon with his wife, son and rabbit.

The views expressed in this site are James’ and his alone.  Primarily because nobody else would have them.

Allergen advice: This site has been constructed in an area where nuts are present.
